What the critics say

Hilary Finch, The Times, 30 November 2005

… Drake earned his keep that day. At lunchtime he had been an eloquent partner for the young Irish soprano Ailish Tynan, who had bewitched the Wigmore Hall and Radio 3 listeners with Richard Strauss, Duparc and Copland. Here was singing full-hearted and free: bright arches of ringing melody that made the spine tingle; intimately communicated hushed words; and finally, in the Copland, both a twinkle and a tear in the eye.
