THE MENAGERIE

1983 Christmas Gala Barbican Menagerie

Nicholas Daniel (oboe) and Julius Drake (piano), two of England’s leading young instrumentalists, created ‘The Menagerie’ to prove that good music is, above all, inspiring entertainment. Each programme – compiled of the many creatures that have inspired composers as varied as Schubert and Fats Waller – is devised round the special guest singer and tailored to its particular audience. The keynote is always the same – pleasure.
